1600 Meters

Some of the state's top 1600 runners include Reed Atwood of Whidbey Island who has run a season best of 4:53.24 and will race in the 1A Division. Sloan Dickson of Lyndon won the 2A State 1600 meter race last year and has run 4:54.21 this season. Kjirsten Ludeman of Sehome has the fastest seed time of 4:48.67. Teammate Sloane Clines of Sehome has run 4:55.34. Jane Wycoff of Mt Spokane has the top time on 3A with her 4:51.73 effort. Sophia Rodriguez of Mercer Island won the 3A State Meet 1600 last year and has run 4:53.50 this season. Elise Corr of Seattle Prep has run 4:55.18 this season. Aubrey Wilems of Eastlake has run 4:49.76 and Latham West of Bonney Lake ran 4:51.01 to finish second to Aubrey.

Dylan Rowell of Acacortes ran an amazing 4:03.10 last week to qualify for the State Meet and won the 2A division last year. Matthew Lawrence of Mercer Island hopes to extend Mercer Island's 3A title streak in the 1600 to four years with his top time of 4:08.50. Max Billet of Shorewood has a season best of 4:09.90 and Kingston Shllito of Franklin has run 4:10.82 this season. Amin Fidaar of Rogers (Puyallup) ran 4:07.07 last week to qualify for State. The other top 4A runners competed last week at the District 3/4 Championship which includes freshman phenom Quenton Lanese of Olympia, teammate Caden Durocher of Olympia, Cohen Butler of Camas, Isaac Benjamin of South Kitsap and Asher Pepin of Curtis.
800 Meters

Kjirsten Ludeman of Sehome opened her season with a 2:06.64 800 meter time and hopes to lower the time in the 2A 800. Ciana Johnson of Ballard has the top 800 meter time in Washington with her 2:06.57 mark. Ciana won the 3A title last year. Freshman Callie Orcutt of West Valley (Yakima) has the top time in the 4A division with her 2:09.40. Other contenders in the 800 at the 4A level include Aubrey Wilems of Eastlake, Jaycee Jenkins of Kamiakin, Allie Knoop of Wenatchee, Amelia Wray of North Creek and Ryan McIellan of Mt. Si.

The 1A race in the 800 at Eisenhower High School will be stacked with Nahom Getachew of King's (1:52.68), Findlay Hartshorn of The Bear Creek (1:51.21) and Reuben TeVelde of Meridian (1:52.26) vying for the 1A state title. Ignacio Llorens of Bainbridge has the top 2A time of 1:52.69 and he will be pushed by Reid Randall of Sequim and Maverick Ball of Anacortes. Mana Voss of Central Kitsap ran 1:50.00 this season for the top time in 3A and Ryan Khoury of Stanwood is a veteran state meet racer. Amin Fidaar of Rogers (Puyallup) has the fastest time in Washington and the second fastest time on the west coast with his 1:49.82. Caden Durocher of Olympia will challenge.
3200 Meters

Sloan Dickson of Lyndon won the 2A title in the 3200 last year and has run 10:42.32 this season. Sloane Clines of Sehome has run 10:42.54 this season. Sophia Rodriguez and Mercer Island is the defending 3A champion in the 3200 and has run 10:35.32. Cassidy Armstrong of Ballard has run Washington's top 3200 time this season of 10:08.71. Latham West of Bonney Lake has the top 4A time of 10:27.44 and other challengers include Ella Koch and Sara Thompson of Union, Jaya Holt of Glacier Peak, Kate Westfall of Camas and Lenorah McGarty of Redmond.

Oliver Zimmerman of Cedar Park Christian and Rowan Jung of South Whidbey will make for an exciting 1A race in Yakima as both runners have broken nine in the 3200. Dylan Rowell of Anacortes won the 2A title last year and has run 8:49.56 this season. Leroy Lozano Mejia of Hermiston has run 8:59.22 this season, Henry Herb of Seattle Prep ran 8:59.97 and Matthew Lawrence of Mercer Island ran 9:01.46. All will compete for the 3A title. The potentially fastest 3200 of the day can be the 4A division with Cohen Butler of Camas (8:44.30) and is the defending 4A champion in this event, Isaac Benjamin of South Kitsap (8:47.19), Quenton Lanese of Olympia has the fastest 3200 time as a freshman in the nation with his 8:47.53 mark. Stejer Franklin of Mead hopes to dip under nine minutes on Saturday.

3000 Meters

Clayton Jero of Summit has the fastest time in Oregon's 5A division running 8:15.54. Liam Wilde of Wilsonville has a season best of 8:21.04. Garrett Faught of Crater has run 8:21.08 in the spring. Malachi Schoenherr of Sheldon won the 6A title two years ago as a sophomore and has run 8:15.15 this season. Jesuit teammates Jackson Welsh, Liam Donnelly and Kellen Williams will be factors in the 6A 3000. Also, Lincoln teammates Peter James and Malcolm Dimoff will also be in the race. Franklin's Felix Snyder will also be in the front pack.

Ella Henthorn of Coquille ran 9:51.07 this season and will race against Adley Damon of St. Mary's (9:59.81) in the 3A division. Brynn Davenport of Crater has run 9:45.28 and is the top entrant in the 5A division. Teammate Gwendolyn VanWart of Crater has a 9:53.10 time. Maddie Carney of Caldera, Mari Dunlap of Crater and Natalie Kupka of Ashland will make for a competitive 5A race. Ellery Lincoln of Lincoln has the #2 time in the nation with her 9:06.61 and is clearly the favorite of the 6A division. Freshman Evangeline Johnson-Hess of South Eugene and Elyse Henriksen of Lincoln are others to watch in the 6A 3000 meters.
1500 Meters

Ronan Gantzos of Oregon Episcopal should be the class of the 3A division with his 3:54.11. Thanks to the Jesuit Twilight Relays, many of the 5A boys ran their season best at the meet like Bjorn Blankenship of Summit (3:52.97), Ty Cirino of Central (3:53.13), Clayton Jero of Summit (3:52.30) and Garrett Faught of Crater (3:52.95). Yosuke Shibata of South Eugene has the fourth fastest 1500 meter time in the nation with a time of 3:47.93. Shibata will be racing other 6A stars like Malachi Schoenherr of Sheldon, Peter James of Lincoln and the Jesuit trio of Jackson Welsh, Kellen Williams and Liam Donnelly.

Sophie Schoolmeester of Banks has the second fastest 1500 time in the state at 4:27.53 and Sophie will race her sister Molly of Banks and Ella Henthorn of Coquille in the 3A division. Brynn Davenport of Crater has a 5A leading time of 4:32.44 with Maddie Carney of Caldera (4:35.24) and Edan Anspach of Redmond (4:37.51). Ellery Lincoln of Lincoln has the #1 time in the 1500 in the nation with a time of 4:12.16 and is the class of the 6A division. Other athletes expected to star in the 6A 1500 include West Linn's Eleanor Wyatt and Sunset's Naomi Cesar.
800 Meters

Liam Gibson of Neah-Kah-Nie has a 1:52.74 time and Amin Diani of Banks has a time of 1:54.50 for a competitive 3A division 800 meter race. Cameron Dierdorff of Scappoose has a season best time of 1:54.99 and fellow 4A athlete William Flores of Seaside has a 1:55.27. Maxwell Miracle of Crater has the state's fastest time in the 800 at 1:51.20 and will lead the 5A field. Yosuke Shibata of South Eugene has run 1:51.50 and will try to take the 800 meter 6A title away from defending champion Paul Hretcanu of Tigard who has a season best time of 1:51.37. The 6A boys' race includes Anders Hagen of West Salem, Kruz Mogel of Clackamas, Jacob Loveless of South Eugene and Jack McDaniel of Grant.

Sophie Schoolmeester of Banks looks to defend her 3A title in the 800 and has a 2:13.67 season best time. Tori Sherman of Marist ran 2:14.13 in April and hopes to win the 4A division. Eden Anspach of Redmond is one of many 5A athletes who have run 2:14 this season with Lillian Weiss of Crescent Valley, Natalie Kupka of Ashland and Macallan Cutsforth of Canby all running under 2:15 this season. Naomi Cesar finished second last year in the 6A division of the 800 meters and will have Metro League rivals Miranda Oblad of Mountainside and Southridge's Adelaide Wasnick hoping to win the 6A 800 meter race. Eleanor Wyatt of West Linn and Evylee Bugher of Sherwood are other contenders.

1600 Meters

Chiara Dailey of La Jolla has the fastest 1600 meter outdoor time in California with her time of 4:39.01. Braelyn Combe of Santiago (Corona) is the defending state champion in the 1600 and has run 4:40.01. Chiara is ranked #7 in the nation and and Braelyn is #8 in the nation. Athletes hoping to make the podium include Isla Terrill of Monrovia, Isla Bulmer of Claremont, Anna Salter of Crystal Springs Uplands and Delaney Napierala of Oaks Christian.

Maximo Zavaleta of MLK has the fastest 1600 meter time in the state with his 4:04.28 time. It is also the ninth fastest time in the nation. Maximo has seen many of his rivals plenty of times this season as they race in the Southern Section. Aidan Antonio of Woodbridge has run 4:05.15 and Vin Krueger of Oaks Christian has a best time of 4:06.90. Other racers to watch are Krish Desai of Mira Costa, Cooper Castleberry of Poway, Jace Deledonne of Poly (Riverside) and Stephen Sziebert of Bellarmine College Prep.
800 Meters

Braelyn Combe of Santiago is trying to complete the rare 1600 and 800 meter double victory. Sadie Englehardt of Ventura accomplished this feat three years ago. Braelyn has the fifth fastest 800 in the nation at 2:04.52. Reese Holley of JSerra dropped the 1600 to concentrate on the 800 and has run 20:08.10. Josie Hill of Sonoma Academy ran her personal best of 2:06.38 in her first meet of the season in March and is due for a PR in State. Nicole Samson of Santiago (Corona), Azra Gercek of Portola and Isabella Wrobdlewski of Yorba Linda. Watch for Grace Smith of Claremont as she finished second in this race last year.

The boys' 800 meter race may be the deepest and most compelling distance race on Saturday. Athletes from different sections have a chance to take home the state title. Josiah Bowman of Sage Creek has the 8th fastest time in the nation with his state leading time of 1:49.54. Lucas Alberts of Jesuit finished second in this race last year and has run 1:49.98. Hugh Heyer of McClatchy has run 1:50.24 at last week's SJS Master's Meet. Alden Morales of JSerra ran 1:50.24 this season and has run under 1:50 in a previous season. Ryan Burger of Mira Costa ran 1:50.98 in a fast heat at Mt SAC Relays. Evan Chopra of Menlo Atherton ran 1:51.42 at the Central Coast Section Championship.
4 X 800

All the girls' teams in the Southern Section have broken nine minutes this season. JSerra girls won a close race with Santiago (Corona) at the Arcadia Invitational and the state meet will be a rematch. Santiago (Corona) are the defending champions. Claremont and Long Beach Wilson are not far behind JSerra and Santiago (Corona). St Francis of Mountain View has run 9:04.07 this season and Carlmont is close with a time of 9:04.52.

JSerra boys are the defending champion in the 4 X 800 and they plan to defend their title. There a number of teams who will challenge for what looks to be a competitive 4 X 800. Mira Costa leaned in front of JSerra last week at the CIF SS Masters meet. MLK qualified and ran their fastest time at the Mt SAC Relays in April and Redondo Union ran their season best last week at CIF SS Masters. CCS schools of Menlo Schools and Homestead ran season bests on May 16 and can challenge the Southern Section schools.
3200 Meters

Chiara Dailey of La Jolla has the field's fastest time of 9:53.38 run at a dual meet. Amaya Bharadwaj of Palo Alto ran her 10:01.93 at the Arcadia Invitational had was the first California finisher at the Arcadia 3200. Summer Wilson of Irvine keeps improving and won the CIF SS Masters Meet in a comfortable margin at 10:14.45. Alyssa Gutierrez of St Francis (Sacramento), Ari Llorens of Francis Parker and Elliana Patterson of Christian are other contenders.

Maximo Zavaleta has the top 3200 meter time of 8:43.21 and he is also racing the 1600 earlier in the meet. Aidan Antonio of Woodbridge is another favorite who is also listed in the 1600. Cooper Stream of Vacaville opted to scratch in the 1600 and focus on the 3200. Southern Section stalwarts of Mario Montoya of Redondo Union, Olly O'Connor of Viewpoint and Michael Scarinice of South Pasadena are other athletes to to watch on Saturday night.
