Hayward Field at the University of Oregon will host the Nike Outdoor Nationals to crown high school national champions and also qualify athletes for the US team at the U-20 World Championships to be held at Hayward Field on August 6-9.


Thursday

Preston Schmidt of Crater

Blair Bartlett of Lawrenceville is the top high school athlete in the U-20 5000 meter race. Blair finished second at NXN and Brooks XC in December. Rylee Blade of Florida State will be the racing for one of the top two spots. Last week at the NCAA Championship, Rylee set the U-18 American record in the 10,000 in a time of 32:08.53. Emily Wisniewski of North Carolina State is familiar with Hayward Field as she prepped at Crescent Valley in nearby Corvallis. Brynn Davenport of Crater is also in the U-20 5000 meter race. Juan Gonzalez of the University of Oregon is the top seed in the men's U-20 5000. Juan finished second at Footlocker in 2024. Garrett Faught and Preston Schmidt of Crater will be entered in the 5000.

Evangeline Marheineke of UCLA is entred in the U-20 3000 steeplechase. Evangeline ran for Archbishop MItty. Ashlynn Doolan of Azusa Pacific prepped at Tokay High School. Aidan Wendring of Central High School has experience winning NON 2025 steeplechase championship race.

NON also has a 5000 meter race on Thursday which includes national athletes like Gabbie Bishop of Providence Classical Christian Academy (AR) and Marcy Wingard of Denton Braswell (TX). West Coast athletes include Latham West of Bonney Lake, Natalie Arriaza of Patterson and Elyse Henriksen of Lincoln. Super sophomore Ruel Newberry of Denton Guyer (TX) is listed in the boy's 5000 and west coast athletes include Mario Montoya of Redondo Union, Rowan Jung of South Whidbey, Emiliano Diaz-Garcia of Clackamas and Liam Wilde of Wilsonville.


Friday

West coast athletes in the girl's 2000 steeplechase include Kamilah Salim of West Torrance, Charlotte Hopkins of Arcadia, Madison Zemper-Prill of South Eugene, Summer Wilson of Irvince and Hadley Hanchett of Eisenhower. West coast athletes in the boy's 2000 steeplechase include Chase Manning of Tesoro and Josiah Capusan of Cedar Park Christian.

Charlize-Trinity McKenzie of of Cedarburg ran 2:05.34 at the Music City Track Carnival and is the top seed in the 800 meters. West coast athletes will challenge like Ciana Johnson of Ballard, Kjirsten Ludeman of Sehome and Sophie Schoolmeester of Banks. Joshua Cooper of Willow Spring ran 1:48.98 at the Carolina Distance Festival in April and won Nike Indoor Nationals in the 800. Lucas Alberts of Jesuit ran 1:49.59 at the Hoka Festival of Miles.

In the U-20 1500, Claire Stegall of Florida ran 4:06.47 this spring and high school athletes Braelyn Combe of Santiago (Corona) and Ellery Lincoln of Lincoln have both run 4:09 in the 1500 this track season. West coast athletes Aelo Curtis of Ventura and MacKenzie Bigej of Duke by way of Canby High School are also entered. Henry Dixon of Michigan enters the U-20 1500 with an impressive 3:38.70 and Brian Burns of Betonville has broken four minutes in the mile. West Coast athletes Owen Powell of Washington (Mercer Island), Arrin Sagiraju of UCLA (Dougherty Valley) and Griffin Kushen of Duke (Tesoro) are entered in the U-20 1500.

The U-20 women's 800 has athletes who have the potential to break two minutes on Friday like Paige Sheppard of Union Catholic, Emmry Ross of Michigan, Natalie Dumas of Eastern Senior and Ellie Barada of Bloomington South. Bodey Lutes of Oregon is the top seed in the U-20 800 and is a local athlete from the Oregon Coast at Marshfield High School. Look for west coast athletes Paul Hretcanu of Tigard, Beckett Sullivan of Pepperdine (Poly-Riverside), Findlay Hartshorn of Bear Creek and Max Miracle of Crater.

Rylee Blade and Blair Bartlett will renew their battle from Thursday's U-20 5000 meter when they compete Saturday in the 3000 U-20 race. Chiara Dailey of La Jolla won the Brooks PR 2-mile and the California State Meet 3200 in the past few weeks and is entered in the 3000. Andrew Beroset of McCallie has nearly broken four minutes in the mile and will show his range in the 3000 U-20 race. Juan Gonzalez of Oregon will attempt the 5000 and 3000 double. Owen Powell is slated to be in the 1500 and 3000 and Eli Fitchen-Young of Duke (Santa Cruz) is entered in the 3000.


Saturday

Leah Starkey of Ocean Township has run 9:48.62 in the 3200 and won NIN 2-mile and will attempt to repeat that feat at NON. Gabbie Bishop has broken ten minutes in the 3200 and Emry Schwalm of Heritage is close at 10:01.56. West coast athletes Latham West of Bonney Lake, Cassidy Armstrong of Ballard, Isabella Ruiz and Natalie Arriaza of Patterson are also entered in the 2-mile. Ruel Newberry has the top time (3200) of 8:43.40. Malachi Schoenherr of Sheldon will race at his hometown track and has run 8:43.93. Isaac Benjamin of South Kitsap has run 8:47.19. West coast athletes looking to prove themselves in the 2-mile include Dylan Rowell of Anacortes, Mario Montoya of Redondo Union, Bjorn Blankenship and Clayton Jero of Summit and Kellen Williams of Jesuit.


Sunday

Some of the athletes racing in the U-20 races on Friday return to the track for the championship girl's mile like Chiara Dailey, Ellie Barada, Blair Bartlett and Aelo Curtis. The 2025 NON mile champion Lily Alder of Timpview will attempt to defend her title. Dylan Rowell of Anacortes has broken four minutes in the mile two weeks ago at Brooks PR. Rocco Culpepper of Niwot, Abdinasir Hassan of Northfield and Andrew Beroset of McCallie came close to breaking four at Hoka Festival of Miles and will see if the break the magical barrier on Sunday. Aidan Antonio of Woodbridge hopes the momentum carries him to breaking four also.
