The girls 3200 is the first distance race and nine girls entered have broken ten minutes in the 2-mile this season. We will get another chance to watch Natasza Dudek of Ann Arbor Pioneer and Blair Bartlett of Lawrenceville race each other again. Natasza and Blair finished 1-2 at NXN and Brooks XC Championship in December. Chiara Dailey of La Jolla won the 3200 at the California State Meet and is in the race. Two of the top junior distance runners face off in the boy's 2-mile. Marcelo Mantecon of Belen Jesuit Prep and Yohanes Van Meerten of Flagstaff will match up in the boy's 2-mile. Cohen Butler of Camas is the top Washington runner in the 3200 and entered in the 2-mile.
Paige Sheppard of Union Catholic and Braelyn Combe of Santiago (Corona) will have a rematch from their race at Arcadia Invitational. Josie Hill of Sonoma Academy and Ciana Johnson of Ballard is also entered in the girls 800. Eight athletes entered in the boy's 800 have broken 1:50 this season. Carter Smith of Mifflin Country broke four minutes on Thursday at the Hoka Festival of Miles and is entered in the 800. West coast athletes Josiah Bowman of Sage Creek and Mana Moss of Central Kitsap are entered in the boy's 800.
Kaitlyn Estep of Cardinal Gibbons and Lily Alder of Timpview have the top seed times in the girl's mile. West coast athletes Jaelyn Williams of Eastlake, Latham West of Bonney Lake, Aelo Curtis of Ventura and Cassidy Armstrong will also be in the girls' mile. Brian Burns of Bentonville broke four minutes on Thursday. Abdinasir Hassan of Northfield, Jason Pifer of Colllins Hill and Rocco Culpepper of Niwot are the top candidates to break four minutes. West coast athletes Dylan Rowell of Anacortes, Maximo Zavaleta of MLK and Yosuke Shibata of South Eugene are also entered in the boy's mile.
In the freshman mile Maya Pawlowicz of JSerra and Evangeline Johnson Hess of South Eugene are racing the nation's best freshman girls and Quenton Lanese of Olympia, Sterling White of Oaks Christian, Owen Burton of Crescenta Valley and Ryder White of Crater of some of the west coast athletes racing in the freshman mile.

Hoka Festival of Miles - June 4, 2026

Many of the top high school milers will compete Thursday night at the Hoka Festival of Miles in St Louis. Ellery Lincoln of Lincoln has the top mile time when she ran 4:30.00 at the Nike/Jesuit Twilight Relays in April. She currently has a five second gap to the nearest competitor in the race, but there athletes hoping to close that gap. Abigail Hennessey of Westford Academy (MA) has run 4:35.87 in May at the Track Night NYC. Abigail won the prestigious Arcadia Invitational 3200 meter race back in April. Braelyn Combe of Santiago (Corona) won the 800, 1600 and 4 X 800 last Saturday at the California State Meet and ran 4:35.89 in the 1600. Chiara Dailey of La Jolla finished second to Braelyn on Saturday's 1600 meter race in 4:38.82. Chiara won the Arcadia Invitational mile in a time of 4:41.12 in April. Abby Anstett of Georgetown Visitation Prep finished second to Chiara at Arcadia in a time of 4:44.25.
So far only one high school boy has broken the coveted four minute mile barrier and that athlete is in the race - Jackson Spencer of Herriman. Jackson ran 3:58.17 at the Nike/Jesuit Twilight Relays. Jackson recently won the 800, 1600 and 3200 at the Utah State Meet and won the Arcadia Invitational 3200 in a record time of 8:31.80. Finishing second to Jackson at the Nike/Jesuit Twilight Relays was Caden Leonard of South Lake Carroll (TX). He ran 4:00.07 at an indoor mile in February. Brian Burns of Bentonville (AR) ran an even closer time to the four minute barrier of 4:00.02 at the RunningLane Championships. Last year's winner at the Hoka Festival of Miles returns. Quentin Nauman of Epworth Western Dubuque (IA) won this event last year at 3:58.65 and recently won the Iowa State Meet 1600 and 3200. Andrew Beroset of McCallie (TN) has also raced close to the barrier time with his 4:00.82 run in April. He won the 1600 meter Tennessee state title. Marcelo Mantecon of Belen Jesuit Prep (FL) won four events at the Florida State Meet with wins in the 800, 1600, 3200 and 4 X 800. Marcelo ran 4:00.66 at Nike Indoor Nationals in March . Abdinasir Hassan of Northfield (CO) came in a close second to Marcelo at NIN in a time of 4:01.45. Maximo Zavaleta of MLK (CA) and Carter Smith of Mifflin County (PA) won their respective state meets in 4:02.
Also, look for west coast athletes in other races Thursday night like Lucas Alberts of Jesuit in the boys 800, Josie Hill of Sonoma Academy and Azra Gercek of Portola in the girls 800, Aidan Antonio of Woodbridge, Stephen Sziebert of Bellarmine College Prep in the boys elite mile, Gretchen Yakaitis of Carondelet, Anna Salter of Crystal Springs Uplands and Amaya Bharadwaj of Palo Alto in the girls elite mile.
