The Podium hosts the indoor track meet Spokane High School Preview on January 10 and 11. The preview below highlights the distance events on Saturday.


Girls


Julia Couch of Auburn Riverside
Julia Couch of Auburn Riverside

The first distance event is the girls mile at 12:15 on Saturday. Oregon State commit, Julie Couch of Auburn Riverside leads the mile field. Couch has been the Washington state champion in the 3A division twice in the 800 and once in the 1600 meters. Annabelle Carr of Coeur D' Alene Charter was the 800 and 1600 meter Idaho champion in the 1A/2A/3A division last spring. Hadassah Duff of West Valley won the 2A GSL District Championship in cross country last fall. Olivia May of Coeur D' Alene was an Idaho state finalist in the 1600 and 3200 back in May. Lilly Robertson of Richland won the division 3 race at September's Nike Portland XC. Katie Lubbe of Lewis & Clark was a 3A Washington state finalist in the 1600/3200 in May and Valerie Siebol-DeRuyter of Pasco was the MCC District Champion in cross country last fall and won the division 4 race at Nike Portland XC

Julia Couch and Annabelle Carr return from the mile to race in the 800. In the 3000, Morgan Delaney of Poison High School in Montana won the A class cross country championship last fall. Dailey Arnold of the powerful Oregon team, Summit, is also listed in the 3000 meter race. Regan Thomas of St. George's School won two Washington state titles in 2024 in the 2B division. She won the 3000 meter title in track and the cross country title last fall.


Boys

The boys mile has some elite racers including the talented Coeur D' Alene boys team that has made it to NXN the last two years. Coeur D' Alene boys Maximus and Zackery Cervi-Skinner and Wyatt Carr are entered in the mile. Two time Footlocker finalist Kade Brownell and teammate Parker Westermann of Mt Spokane are also entered in the mile. Another NXN qualifier, Jesuit of Oregon, has Liam Donnelly and Brayden Fletcher in the mile.

The boy's 800 is loaded with athletes who have run in the mid 1:50's. Reid Bartholomew of Gallatin High School in Montana, Coen Strub of Jesuit (OR), JD Arthur of Silverton, Findlay Hartshorn of The Bear Creak, Duncan Frisbee-Smith of Bush, Parker Lemmon of Ferris and Adam Kehe of Cleveland will make for a fast 800.


Jett Leavitt of Enterprise
Jett Leavitt of Enterprise

The 3000 meter race on Saturday evening returns Jesuit's Brayden Fletcher and Liam Donnelly who ran in the mile. Jett Leavitt of Enterprise was runner up in last fall's Oregon 3A cross country championship and Bolden Alderson of West Valley ran at Washington's state meet 3200 meter race.
