Oregon State Meet - May 16 - 18

Hayward Field - Eugene, OR



All six divisions meet over three days to crown the champions of track and field in the state of Oregon. Here are some of the highlighted distance runners.


1A/2A/3A


Daisy Lalonde of East Linn Christian

Thursday will the first final in the 3000. In 1A girls, Macy Marshall of St. Stephen's Academy has the top seed time of 11:09.45. The 2A race has defending 3000-meter champion Daisy Lalonde of East Linn Christian in the race with a seed time of 10:55.90. The 3A race has a few contenders which include Jaya Simmons of Valley Catholic (10:17.34), Morgan Matthews of Oregon Episcopal (10:34.52) and Sierra Simmons of Valley Catholic (10:37.22). Jett Leavitt of Joseph has the top boy's 1A seed time in the 3000 with a time of 9:24.27. Wyatt Jacobson of Knappa is the 2A leader with a seed time of 9:19.58. Sophomore Ronan Gantzos of Oregon Episcopal is the 3A leader with a time of 9:06.31.


Morgan Amano of Valley Catholic

The 800 meter races will be prelims on Thursday for 1A/2A/3A and Presley Speelmon of Adrian and Paiten Braseth of Imbler are the top girl runners in the 1A division. Averie Peterson of Santiam is the top seed in the girl in the 2A division and Sophie Schoolmeester of Banks is the class of the girls 3A 800 meters. Grady Greenwood of Condon and Eli Williams of Cove are the two evenly matched competitors in the 1A boys 800. Hap Freres of Blanchet Catholic arrives to Hayward on Thursday as the 2A favorite. Morgan Amano of Valley Catholic looks to be the favorite in the 3A boys 800.


Sophie Schoolmeester of Banks

On Friday the 1500 meter races will be contested as finals. Macy Marshall of St. Stephen's Academy and Presley Speelmon of Adrian are top runners in the girls 1A 1500. Daisy Lalonde of East Linn Christian won the 1500 last year and hopes to repeat the 2A 1500championship again. Sophie Schoolmeester of Banks will be tested in the 3A 1500 meter race by Lauren Tittel of Oregon Episcopal and Jaya Simmons of Valley Catholic. Jett Leavitt of Joseph is the favorite in the 1A boys 1500. Clayton Wilson of Reedsport has the top seed time in the 2A boys 1500. In the 3A boys 1500, Morgan Amano of Valley Catholic and Ronan Gantzos of Oregon Episcopal look to be in a tough battle.

4A/5A/6A


Emily Wisniewski of Crescent Valley

Friday morning, the 4A girls 3000-meter race start of the larger school portion of the meet and Adele Beckstead of Philomath is the favorite. Crescent Valley's Emily Wisniewski will attempt to win the 5A girls 3000-meter race for the third year in a row. There are ten girls in the 6A division who broke ten minutes to qualify for the state meet and Chloe Huyler of Lakeridge has the top seed time. Carter Bengstron of Cottage Grove is the favorite in the 4A boys 3000. Josiah Tostenson of Crater has the the top seed time in the 5A boys 3000 and teammate Tayvon Kitchen will also challenge. Asher Danielson of Ida B Wells has the top 6A boys 3000 meter time, but there are several boys within striking distance.

Saturday afternoon is the 4A/5A/6A 1500 finals and in the 4A girls race it looks like a close race between Brooke Perry of La Grande, Adele Beckstead of Philomath and Macallan Cutsforth of North Marion. Haley Blaine of West Albany won the 5A girls 1500 in 2022 and Emily Wisniewski of Crescent Valley finished second in 2023 in the 1500. Lauren Ayers of Tualatin won the 3000 last year at the state meet and now hopes to add the 1500 title to her resume. Chloe Huyler of Lakeridge and Ellery Lincoln are also strong 6A girls 1500-meter title contenders. Finn Collson of Newport and Austin Uhl of La Grande are the top seeds in the 4A boys 1500. Josiah Tostenson of Crater looks to be the clear favorite in the 5A boys 1500. Asher Danielson of Ida B Wells and Malachi Schoenherr of Sheldon have the top seeds in the 6A boys 1500.


Ellery Lincoln of Lincoln

The 800 finals will be Saturday with prelims contested on Friday. Haley Butenschoen of Stayton is the defending 4A girls 800 meter champion and comes into the meet with the top seed time. In the 5A girls 800 meter race, Artana Nice of North Eugene and Skye Knox of Summit have the top seed times. Ellery Lincoln of Lincoln has the top seed time in the 6A girls 800. Austin Uhl of La Grande has the top time time from last week's district meets in the 4A boys 800. Jackson Bullock of Hood River Valley, Cole Fiegener of Corvallis and JD Arthur of Silverton enter Friday's prelims with the top seed times for the 5A boys 800. Joshua Hepner of McDaniel has the top 6A boys 800 seed time and Adam Reeder of Sheldon enters the race with the big 800-meter win at the Oregon Relays.
