Nike hosts their annual Nike Indoor Nationals meet at the Armory in Manhattan from Thursday, March 12 to Sunday, March 15. Here are athletes to watch in the championship distance races.


Thursday - 5000 Meters

Skylar Watts of Trabuco Hills

Blair Bartlett of Lawrenceville (NJ) headlines the girl's championship 5000. Bartlett finished second at NXN and Brooks XC National Championship on back to back weekends in December. Then Bartlett represented the US at the U20 World Cross Country Championship and finished 16th in January. Sophia Rodriguez of Mercer Island has swept the Washington 3A championships in Washington in 2025 (1600, 3200 and cross country). Averi Lowen of Bowdon (GA) finished in the top ten in both NXN and Brooks XC National Championship races in December. West coast athletes Skylar Watts of Trabuco Hills (CA) and Elyse Henriksen of Lincoln (OR) both have NXN experience.

Sophomore Ruel Newbery of Denton Guyer (TX) finished 11th at NXN in December. Marcelo Mantecon of Belen Jesuit Prep (FL) won the 5000 last year at Nike Indoor Nationals and had an impressive finish to his junior season in cross country with a fourth place finish at NXN and second place finish at Brooks XC National Championship. Dylan Rowell of Anacortes (WA) qualified for NXN and won the 1600, 3200 and cross country Washington 2A level races in 2025

Friday - 2-Mile

Addy Ritzenhein of Niwot (CO) looks to defend her NIN 2-mile championship from last year. NXN qualifier Emry Schwalm of Heritage (CO) is entered and Averi Lowen and Sophia Rodriguez are entered in the 2-mile and 5000 meter race. West coast athletes Addyson Johns of Santiago (Corona - CA) and Latham West of Bonney Lake (WA) are entered in the 2-mile.

Caden Leonard of Southlake Carroll (TX) finished third at NXN and Brooks XC National Championship in December and looks for a national championship at the 2-mile. Ruel Newberry and Marcelo Mantecon return from the 5000 meters. Malachi Schoenherr of Sheldon (OR) has won the Oregon 6A 3000 and cross country championship. There are a number of west coast athletes in the championship race. Owen Abbott of Dos Pueblos (CA), Ronan Gantzos of Oregon Episcopal School, Andres Lomeli of Kimball (CA), Finley Lyke of Bend (OR), Carson Stafford of Tahoma (WA) and Kellen Williams of Jesuit (OR).


Saturday - 800 Meters

Ellie Barada of Bloomington South (IN) won Nike Outdoor Nationals 800 meters in June and now hopes to collect an indoor title. Braelyn Combe of Santiago (Corona - CA) won California's 1600 meter state meet title last May and will race in the 800. Natalie Dumas of Voorhes (NJ) recently committed to Arkansas (Combe is also going to be a Razorback) and is a threat in the 800. West coast athletes to watch in the championship 800 include Chiara Dailey of La Jolla, Isla Bulmer and Grace Smith of Claremont, Allie Knoop of Wenatchee (WA) and Eleanor Wyatt of West Linn (OR).

Quentin Nauman of Epworth Western Dubuque (IA) had an incredible double at the Iowa State Meet in 2025. He won the 800 in 1:49.41 and 3:59.60 in the 1600 on the same day. Joshua Cooper of Willow Spring (NC) finished third in the 800 at Nike Outdoor Nationals back in June. Wyland Obando of Long Beach Wilson won the California State Meet in the 800. Quinn Sullivan of Niwot (CO) finished fifth at NXN and was part of the two-time NXN team champions for Niwot. West coast athletes in the championship 800 include Lucas Alberts of Jesuit (CA), Charles Harger of Aragon (CA), Hunter Gillepsie-Aubel of Chino Hills (CA), Parker Lemmon of Ferris (WA), Mana Voss of Central Kitsap (WA), Tyler White of Murrieta Valley (CA) and Cade Willhoit of Mission Vista (CA).


Sunday - 1-mile

Blair Bartlett has run 4:34.64 indoors this season and Ellery Lincoln of Lincoln (OR) ran 4:35.55 outdoors two weeks ago and they match up in the championship mile. Athletes from the championship 800 are in the mile too like Ellie Barada, Isla Bulmer, Braelyn Combe, Chiara Dailey and Eleanor Wyatt. Addy Ritzenhein, Emry Schwald, and Latham West double back from Friday's 2-mile. West coast athletes racing in the championship mile include Elise Corr of Seattle Prep (WA), Maleah Johnson of Centennial (CA), Sivani Kaliki of Evergreen Valley (CA) and Aelo Curtis of Ventura (CA) who qualified individually for NXN in December.

Can a boy break the four-minute barrier at NIN? There are candidates who have a chance like Noah Strohman of Holliday (TX) who in 2025 won the Texas 3A 1600, 3200 and cross country championships. Caleb Ten Pas of Des Moines Christian (IA) recently won the high school Millrose Games Mile. Ben Adams of Mountain Vista (CO) won the Hoka Festival of Miles back in June. Paul Van Laningham of Cooper (KY) finished in the top ten in December's NXN and Brooks XC National Championship. Andrew Beroset of McCallie (TN) won the Tennessee DII Cross Country Championship and was an NXN qualifier. Many of the west coast athletes are doubling back from earlier distance races like Owen Abbott, Lucas Alberts, Wyland Obando, and Kellen Williams. Cullen Gully of Dos Pueblos (CA). Oregon 6A champion and NXN qualifier Yosuke Shibata of South Eugene (OR) and Peter James of Lincoln (OR) are entered in the championship mile.
