Night Meet - August 29

Wilsonville High School - Wilsonville, Or

Oregon high school athletes open their season on the 3000 meter course on the campus of Wilsonville High School on Friday. The meet is under the lights on a flat and fast course and the athletes race within their grade group.

Nelida Dalgas of North Salem

Some of the girl athletes to watch include seniors Nelida Dalgas of North Salem, Elyse Henriksen of Lincoln, Avery Meier and Mia Rasca of South Salem, Taylor Sheldon of Lake Oswego and Elissa Schaeffer of Sunset. Junior standouts include Ellery Lincoln of Lincoln, Lauren Gerlach of Tualatin, Haddie Barsalou of Crater and Naomi Caesar of Sunset. Eleanor Wyatt of West Linn will race in the sophomore division after an outstanding freshman season.

Malachi Schoenherr of Sheldon

In the boys grade races, seniors Malachi Schoenherr and Benjamin Kehrein of Sheldon, Kai Jensen of Cleveland, Ronan Gantzos of Oregon Episcopal, Liam Wilde of host Wilsonville, Jayden Warner of Warrenton, Emiliano Diaz-Garcia of Clackamas and Yosef Picazo of McNary. Junior Kaiji Aleman of Central Catholic and sophomore Garrett Fraught of Crater are other athletes to watch on Friday night.

Cool Breeze Invitational - August 30

Pomona Fairplex - Pomona, CA

Grace Smith of Claremont

One of the early season high school meets in Southern California is also under the lights at the Pomona Fairplex. The showcase events are the last races of the evening called the Sundown Showdown.

Some of the schools vying for the team girl's trophy include, Martin Luther King, Tesoro, Claremont, Point Loma, Murrieta Valley, Sage Creek. Individual athletes in the girls Sundown Showdown include Grace Smith of Claremont, Mackenzie Forrest of Tesoro, Isla Bulmer of Claremont, Amber Dazey of Tesoro, Arielle Avina of Murrieta Valley and Amelia Sarkisian of Brentwood

Maximo Zavaleta of MLK

In the boys Sundown Showdown include Ayala, Hart, Martin Luther King, San Clemente, Oak Park, West Ranch. La Serna and Viewpoint. Individual stars will include Maximo Zavaleta of MLK, Jace Deladonne of Riverside Poly, Olly O'Connor of Viewpoint, Logan Carlson of MLK, Bryson Caganap of Ayala, Micah Dickran of Newbury Park and Josiah Bowman of Sage Creek.
