Dublin Summer Practice

Visited Dublin High School (hosts of the Dublin Distance Fiesta) on their long run Saturday.  After a warm-up, the team took a run on the Iron Horse Trail.  Dublin High School is located in the East Bay of the Bay Area.

I talked with Coach Chris Williams as we took a ride through Dublin at various points to catch up with his team, including seeing some Dublin alumni out for a run as well.  We talked quite a bit about the Humboldt Distance Running Camp (my track coach, Warren Mills from North Tahoe High School, used to go there quite a bit).

During the summer season, how often does the team practice?

  • We condition six days per week Monday-Saturday beginning on Thursday, June 5, 2025.

What are some special summer activities?

  • Some of our special summer activities include a 2-mile fun run/time trial on July 17 at our local farmers market, attending the Humboldt Distance Running Camp from July 20-25 (a trip that includes many of our parents), and many after conditioning team bondings at Johnny's Donuts in Dublin!

How do you build team culture?

  • We build team culture by stressing the importance on attending conditioning on an everyday basis; by holding teammates accountable with their intentionality at conditioning; and by being supportive teammates.

What are some events that the team is looking forward to in the fall season?

  • Some of the events we are looking forward to in the fall season are the unveiling of our NEW team uniforms and warm-up suits; our Boys North Coast Section 2024 Division 1 Championship Ring Ceremony on August 29; and taking our team overnight trip and competing at the Clovis Invitational on October 10-11.
