Bellarmine Invitational – September 9
Bellarmine Prep High School – Tacoma, WA
The 24th annual Bellarmine Invitational will be competed on Saturday on the Bellarmine Prep campus in Tacoma, WA. The race is 2-miles in length, and it is the season opener for Washington athletes.
The girl’s race is deep with strong returning athletes. Maddie McKenna and Katelyn Galloway lead a Stadium team that finished fourth in the 3A cross country state meet. Alison Whalen of host school Bellarmine is another athlete to watch on Saturday. Julia Couch of Auburn Mountainview won the 3A 1600-meter state championship last spring and will try to win the Bellarmine Invitational. Other athletes competing to make the top ten awards ceremony include Lily Laporte and Zoe Louis of Bishop Blanchet, Sydney Collier of Skyline, Alexa Matora of Lake Washington, Natalie Oathout of Klahowya and Jaya Simmons of Valley Catholic.
The boy’s race features DyeStat’s preseason #22 ranked athlete Vincent Recupero of Bishop Blanchet. Recupero will be pushed by several returners from last year’s top ten finish at the Bellarmine Invitational like Morgan Amano of Valley Catholic, William Lanser of Curtis, Will Sadnes and Ryker Demick of Bishop Blanchet and Salah Muhumed of Aloha.
