Wildwood Running founders Robyn McGillis and Marie Davis Markham are hosting their annual running camp in the Oregon Coast for female high school athletes. For the first time 'Wildwood Running is hosting two separate camps.

We arrived for second day of the first week of the camp at Lake Vernonia in the Oregon Coast. Two buses arrived with 61 athletes and 11 counselors. The athletes completed an easy run around the lake. Athletes are mostly from Oregon and Washington with a sprinkling of athletes from other parts of the western US.

The athletes are staying at a camp with a swimming pool, beach volleyball, a slip and slide and with places to meet discuss readings and topics important to female athletes. Athletes range in age from eighth graders to athletes who will be starting their senior year in high school. We spoke with three athletes who have been to camp for several years.
