The Westside Classic is the qualifying race for next week's Washington State Meet in Pasco, WA. Here are athletes and teams to watch
1B/2B & 1A

Kevin Hu of Pope John Paul II won the 1B state title last year and hopes to defend it this year. Kevin has a freshman teammate Micah Henry who will be a low stick for Pope John Paul II. Cyrus Sparacio of Coupeville is the favorite to win the 2B race. Look for Pope John Paul II to qualify for state with Summit Classical and Coupeville to be other top teams. Possibly the fastest boy in the whole day might be Joshua Healey of 1A Vashon Island. He won the gold race on this course at the Hoka John Payne Invitational and ran 14:50 at Bob Firman. Cooper Dicks of Annie Wright will be another 1A athlete to watch as well as Joshua's teammate Harrison Decker of Vashon Island. Vashon Island is the clear favorite in the 1A race with Annie Wright and East Jefferson hoping to qualify for State.

Ruby Henry and Isla Valpiani of Pope John Paul II will be out front in the 1B/2B race in the morning. Pope John Paul II and Coupeville are among the teams looking to qualify as a team for state. Adeline Arthur of Vashon Island should be in the lead in the 1A race Saturday morning based on her 19:17 time in Hole in the Wall. Vashon will be the favorite to qualify for state.
2A

Freshman Eleanor Jones of Sequim impressed earlier this month on the Chambers Creek course at Hoka John Payne Invitational. Evelyn Shutske of Bainbridge ran 18:41 at the Olympic League Championship last week and Emma Grice of Kingston ran 18:22 at Nike Portland XC in September. Bainbridge, Sequim and Olympic are the top teams in 2A division.

Ryan Dodge of Bainbridge places himself as the favorite in the 2A field thanks to his 15:04 time at Hole in the Wall. Coen Van Vlliet of Kingston ran 15:18 at Nike Portland XC in September. Kingston, Bainbridge and Olympic are the top teams.
3A

Paeton Poelman of White River ran 18:05 at the Hoka John Payne Invitational and won the Fall Classic. Look for Paeton to lead the 3A field. Not far behind Paeton should be Ella Savage of Gig Harbor. Gig Harbor should be the class of the field with White River and Bellarmine Prep looking to qualify for the state meet.

The results in the 3A race should be similar to last week's PSL/SPSL league meet. Oregon commit Mana Voss of Central Kitsap, Max Dower of Gig Harbor, Luke Saalfeld of Bellarmine Prep, Jackson Fuller of Bellarmine Prep, Joshua Minner of Gig Harbor and Galen Peloquin of Gig Harbor raced in a pack last week and most likely will be back in the pack on Saturday. Gig Harbor, Bellarmine Prep and Peninsula are the top teams in 3A division.
4A

Leah Hennan of Olympia and Charlotte White of Curtis will be in a tight battle to claim the Westside Classic title in the 4A division. Sophia Rogers of Battleground won last week's GSHL league title. Catherine Harju of Stadium ran 18:25 at Hole in the Wall. Kisanet Mearafu of Auburn and Tabitha Riley of South Kitsap will also be in the front of the 4A race. Tahoma is the top team in the district with Camas Curtis and Olympia looking to qualify for state on Saturday.

Quenton Lanese of Olympia ran 14:54 to win the Fall Classic is the heavy favorite to win the Westside Classic.
