One of the final invitationals in Oregon before championship season in Oregon is the Nike/Jesuit Twilight Relays held at Jesuit High School in Portland Oregon. The featured event is the elite mile.
After a strong showing at last week's Oregon Relays, Chloe Huyler of Lakeridge arrives at Jesuit with the top seed time in the elite mile. Emma Bennett of Jesuit hopes to defend her home turf at Jesuit. Ellery Lincoln of Lincoln is having an outstanding freshman season and has shined in the 800-meter races. Sophia Rodriguez of Mercer Island is also having an outstanding freshman year in cross country and track and is set to race the elite mile on Friday. Gioana Lopizzo of La Costa Canyon travels from the San Diego area to race the Northwest athletes.
Josiah Tostenson of Crater raced with the pros last week at the Oregon Relays and comes into the meet with top seed time of 4:03.38. Owen Powell of Mercer Island set the national high school record in the 1000-meter race at the Oregon Relays and will test Tostenson as will fellow Washingtonian Vince Recupero of Bishop Blanchet. Tayvon Kitchen of Crater won the 2-mile last week at the Oregon Relays and will run the elite mile. Nathan Neil of Bozeman came in at a close second at the Arcadia 3200 meters earlier this month and will race the elite mile. Landon Pretre of Menlo travels from the Bay Area to race the elite mile.
Elektra Higgins of Peninsula, Victoria Rodriguez of Mercer Island, Chloe Pollock of Rocky Mountain and Sabine Kim of Tigard are among the top seeds in the girl's 2-mile. Ty Cirino of Central, Parker Westermann of Mt Spokane, Zafer Courcelle of Franklin, McCoy Brooks of Enumclaw and Hudson Atrosh of Seattle Prep are the top seeds in the boy's 2-mile.
The other highlights of the meet are the relay events. Camas, Rocky Mountain, Summit, Jesuit and Lincoln are the top girl's 4 X 800 seeds. Rocky Mountain, Union, Oregon City and Caldera are the top boy's 4 X 800 seeds. Jesuit, Tualatin, Stadium, West Salem and Summit are among the top seed times in the girl's distance medley. Ida B Wells, Rocky Mountain, Jesuit, Seattle Prep and South Eugene boys have the top seed times in the distance medley.
