CIF SS Masters - May 24, 2025
Moorpark High School - Moorpark, CA
Moorpark High School hosts the Southern Section CIF Masters meet on Saturday. The qualifiers from the Master's meet will then compete at the California State Meet the following week at Buchanan High School in Clovis, Ca. California famously has a one division State Meet.
1600 Meters

The top girl runners in the 1600 include Braelyn Combe of Santiago (Corona), Evangeline Williams of Trabuco Hills and Annie Ivarsson of Dana Hills. Last weekend at CIF Finals, Evan Noonan blazed to a time of 4:03.71 and is the top seed in the boys 1600. Aidan Antonio of Woodbridge, Maximo Zavaleta of MLK, Grant Miller of La Serna and Kriffin Kushen of Tesoro are other top boys.
800 Meters

Anne Elise Packard of JSerra and freshman Grace Smith of Claremont both have 2:09 seed times in the girls 800. Braelyn Combe of Santiago qualified for Masters 800 meters after running the top time in the 1600 at CIF Finals. Alden Morales of JSerra has the fastest seed time for the boys 800 and Wyland Obando of Wilson LB and Beckett Sullivan of Riverside Poly well also contend.
3200 Meters

Holly Barker of Trabuco Hills has the top time in the girls 3200 with Summer Wilson of Irvine, Abby Errington of South Pasadena and Rylee Blade of Santiago (Corona) are other top girls. Evan Noonan won this event last year at the State Meet and qualified in both the 1600 and 3200. Eyan Turk of Woodcrest Christian has the top seed time and Maximo Zavaleta of MLK is entered in the 3200 and has also qualified in the 1600.
4 X 800

JSerra girls have the top seed time in the 4 X 800 with Long Beach Wilson, Trabuco Hills and Santiago (Corona) looking to take one of the four qualifying spots. Great Oak boys have the top seed time in the 4 X 800 with other contenders Long Beach Wilson, JSerra and Oaks Christian hoping to make it to State.

Sound Running hosts Track Fest at Occidental College Saturday night with an impressive line up of athletes.
800 Meters

Valery Tobias is entered in the women's 800 after making the US Indoor team in the 800 at the World Championships. Tobias will be joined in the 800 with US Olympians Raevyn Rogers and Allie Wilson. Tonatiu Lopez enters the men's 800 with a seed time of 1:43.44 and a pair of Brooks Beasts travel from Seattle with Isaiah Harris and Brannon Kidder in the 800.
1500 Meters

Klaudia Kazimierzka of Oregon won the Big Ten 800 last week and will race with pros like Shelby Houlihan, Katie Snowden and Emily Mackay in the 1500. High school athlete Sadie Engelhardt and 800 meter 2021 Olympic champion Athing Mu run in earlier heats of the 1500. Jake Wightman of Great Britain won the 2022 World Championship in the 1500 and travels to Occidental for the 1500. Luke Houser made the indoor US team for the World Championship in the 1500 and entered in the race.
5000 Meters

The women's 5000 has nine athletes entered in the race that have seed times under fifteen minutes. Laura Galvan has the top seed time of 14:43.94. Heather MacLean who specializes in the 1500 moves up to the 5000. Woody Kincaid has the fastest seed time of 12:51.61 with Sean McCorty and Ky Robinson hoping to break thirteen minutes on Saturday night.
3000 Steeplechase

The women's 3000 meter steeplechase include top seeds like Krissy Gear, Kaylee Mitchell and Olivia Markezich. Kenneth Rooks won the silver medal at the 2024 Paris Olympics in the steeplechase and will make his season debut in the event. Duncan Hamilton and Benard Keter are other top athletes in the event.
