Some of the top high school runners race Sunday at Renton, Washington at the Brooks PR. Here are the West Coast athletes racing.

4 X 800

The boys and girls race 4 X 800 is a chance to showcase the Washington schools. Some of the girls teams to watch are Mt Si, Eastlake, Mercer Island, Ballard, Sehome and Central Kitsap. The boy's teams include Issaquah, Seattle Prep and Arlington.

2-Mile

Chloe Huyler of Lakeridge

Jane Hedengren of Timpview headlines the girls 2-mile after running 4:23.50 at the Hoka Festival of Miles on Thursday. West Coast XC athletes racing the 2-Mile includes California 3200 meter champion Hanne Thomsen of Montgomery, Oregon 6A girls 3000 meter champion Chloe Huyler of Lakeridge, Washington 3A girls 3200 meter champion Sophia Rodriguez of Mercer Island. Then 2022 California 3200 meter champion Rylee Blade of Santiago and 2023 California 3200 meter champion Jaelyn Williams of Eastlake are entered in the 2-mile. Vince Recupero of Bishop Blanchet of Washington is the lone West Coast athlete in the boy's 2-mile.

800 Meters

Owen Powell of Mercer Island

In the girls 800 meters race the lone West Coast athlete is California state 800 meter champion Makenna Herbst. Emmry Ross of Onsted HS in Michigan has a 2:00.53 season best. Cooper Lutkenhaus of Justin Northwest of Texas won Brooks PR last year as a freshman and Joseph Socarras of Belen Jesuit won the Arcadia Invitational 800 meters and both are entered. The lone West Coast athlete is Owen Powell of Mercer Island of Washington who has a 3:56 indoor mile this season.

Mile

Braelyn Combe of Santiago (Corona)

Braelyn Combe of Santiago won last week's California State Meet 1600 meter race. The girl's race has other West Coast contenders like Ellery Lincoln of Lincoln (OR), Chiara Dailey of La Jolla (CA), Victoria Rodriguez of Mercer Island and Alexa Matora of Lake Washington (WA). West Coast boys to watch in the mile include Kade Brownell of Mt Spokane (WA), Eli Fitchen-Young of Santa Cruz (CA) and Alden Morales of JSerra (CA).
