Pac 12 Championships - October 27

Chambers Creek Regional Park - University Place, WA


Ky Robinson of Stanford, Luke Houser of Washington, Cole Sprout of Stanford and Austin Vancil of Colorado

University of Washington hosted the last Pac 12 Championships on Friday. Stanford entered the championship tied with Oregon on the men's side for the most conference championships. Thanks to Ky Robinson of Stanford's victory and five Cardinal in the top 15, Stanford won the 17th and final championship. Robinson won on the 8k course in 22:40.2 with Luke Houser of Washington finishing second in 22:51.8.

The individual and team competition at the women's race was tight with Amy Bunnage of Stanford and Grace Fetherstonhaugh of Oregon State running close to the end. The freshman Bunnage of Stanford prevailed over the 6k course with a time of 19:09.7. The team competition was also close with two points separating host Washington and Stanford. Because only a few points separated the winner, both teams waited in anticipation at the end of of the meet for the official results and Washington closed out the Pac 12 with the team victory.

Westside Classic XC Champs - October 28

Chambers Creek Regional Park - University Place, WA


Emma Tomlinson of White River

The day after the Pac 12 finale, Chambers Creek Regional Park was the site of another championship meet, the Westside Classic. Team and individual qualifiers from the Westside Classic move on to Saturday's Washington State Meet in Pasco, WA. Aliyah Yearian of Port Townsend (East Jefferson) was not able to compete in this meet last fall and the senior is closing out her career on a high note with the 18:21.4 victory. Thanks to teammate Fiona Fraser's second place finish, the Rivals of Port Townsend (East Jefferson) edged out Klahowya for the team victory.


Elekra Higgins Peninsula

Emma Tomlinson of White River ran a dominating race to win in 19:23.1 and lead her school, White River to a huge victory. Central Kitsap girls won their first state title last fall and hope to repeat on Saturday. Despite sitting out their top two runners, the Cougars of Central Kitsap won the Westside Classic, Elektra Higgins led the race from the gun to finish line tape with a time 17:24.1. Alison Whalen of Bellarmine Prep won by almost 20 seconds in a time of 18:13.9. Whalen also led her school, Bellarmine Prep, to a team victory and advances to Pasco on Saturday.

Brooks McCoy of Enumclaw

The 1A boy's team score was tight with one point separating first, second and third. Port Townsend (East Jefferson) squeaked out the team victory over Charles Wright Academy and Cascade Christian. Will Carroll dominated the 1A race with the winning time of 15:49.8. Kingston won the 2A division over Enumclaw and both schools will battle next Saturday in Pasco. Brooks McCoy of Enumclaw won his seventh cross country race this fall with the 2A victory in 15:20.8.


Cooper Boyle of Tahoma

Gig Harbor's Jonathan Miles and Preston Fradet raced together throughout the 3A race with Miles finishing first in a time of 15:45.7. Central Kitsap won the team title by edging out Gig Harbor. Tahoma took the team and individual title in the 4A race. Cooper Boyle pulled away from William Lanser of Curtis to win in a time of 15:42.4
