Fresno, CA - Woodward Park
California teams head to Fresno on Saturday to preview the state meet course and battle with the top teams in the state.

The girl's championship race is loaded with top teams from the recent CIF - PrepCalTrack state rankings. Hometown team Buchanan is ranked #1 in division 1 and will see challengers like #3 Great Oak, #5 Santiago, Corona and #10 Oakridge. Division 2 teams fill the field with #1 Newbury Park, #2 Ventura, #3 Los Altos, #5 St. Francis (Mountain View), #6 Granite Bay, #7 Monte Vista (Danville) and #8 St. Francis (Sacramento). Strong D3 teams are also in the field with #2 Dana Hills and #4 La Costa Canyon. Division 4 #1 JSerra, #2 La Canada, #3 Oaks Christian and #4 La Jolla Individually Sadie Engelhardt of Ventura should be the class of the field. Hanne Thomsen of Montgomery (Santa Rosa) won Nike Portland XC two weeks ago, Ashlyn Boothby won the Artichoke Invitational last week, Cameron Macias won her own invitational last week too. Payton Godsey of Oaks Christian is in the race and finished second at Woodbridge in September.

Saturday marks the debut of the Newbury Park's full line up. They did run a dual meet a few weeks ago, but this will be the first all out effort of the season for the Panthers of Newbury Park. The field is loaded with ranked D1 schools like #1 Great Oak, #2 Crescenta Valley, #3 San Clemente, #4 San Luis Obispo, #7 host Clovis, and #10 Santiago, Corona. Besides #1 Newbury Park in D2 rankings, #2 Granada (Livermore), #3 Ventura, #5 Redwood, #6 Tesoro, #8 Monte Vista, #9 Palo Alto and #10 Ayala is in the field as well as D3 #4 Dana Hills. Individual athletes to watch include Leo and Lex Young and Aaron Sahlman of Newbury Park, Chris Caudillo of Clovis, Jason Parra of Millikan, Cameron Rhone of Long Beach Poly, Bille Issa of West Ranch and Sean Morello of Albany.
Hole in the Wall XC Invitational - October 7-8
Arlington, WA - Lakewood High School
Hole in the Wall attracts some of the top teams in the Northwest and teams from throughout the US to make for a great mid-season meet.

In the girl's race, top Washington schools include Tahoma, Central Kitsap, Mt. Si, Anacortes and Eastlake. Oregon schools to watch include Franklin, Jesuit and Sunset. California schools who will break up the Northwest teams include Mira Costa, Canyon Crest Academy and Torrey Pines. Individuals who will be in the mix include Anna Callahan and Rebecca O'Keefe of Skyline, Jessica Frydenlund of Anacortes, Ana Peters of Lake Oswego and Maura O'Scannlain of Jesuit.

In the boy's race, top Washington schools include Eastlake, Seattle Prep, Issaquah and Sehome. Torrey Pines of California and Oregon schools of Jesuit, Sunset, Franklin and West Salem will be other teams to watch. Individuals to look for include Jacob Nenow and Gus Clevenger of Jesuit, Zack Munson of Sehome, Cruize Corvin of Lakes, Ethan Pedersen of Eastlake and Jack Meier of West Salem.
Paul Mariman Invitational - October 8
Philomath High School - Philomath, OR

Many of the medium and smaller schools in Oregon at the 36th annual Paul Mariman Invitational. Some of top girl's 4A and 3A schools include host team Philomath, Junction City, Valley Catholic and Siuslaw. Jaya Simmons of Valley Catholic, Adele Beckstead of Philomath, Kyla Potratz of Phoenix, Danielle McLain of Bandon and Anika Jenson of Mollala are some of the top girls. The top boy's teams include Philomath, Marist, Valley Catholic and Siuslaw. Alexander Garcia-Silver of Marshfield is the clear favorite in the boy's race. Alexander won Nike Portland XC two weeks ago. Mateo Candanoza and Ben Hernandez of Philomath, Jaden Owens and Carter Bengston of Cottage Grove.
