Friday Night Lights Women and Girls Mile Preview

Lewis & Clark College, Portland, OR

February 17 at 6PM


Wildwood Running and Lewis and Clark College are hosting a women’s and girl’s mile on the Lewis and Clark College track on Friday night, February 17 at 6PM. The event is an opportunity to celebrate women and girls in sports. The Lewis and Clark track is nestled in forested area of the campus and is known as the “Electric Forest.” Wildwood Running hosts runs, meets and clinics to empower and educate female athletes and coaches known as RunHers. The meet is open for female athletes from walkers and joggers to racers. The first heat is at 6:00 on Friday night. Late registration is from 5:00-5:45 and participants are asked to bring $6 in cash for entry.


Alexis Leone of Seton Catholic

The eighth and final heat has familiar names racing. Alexis Leone is entered and is from Seton Catholic in Washington. Leone is the two-time state champion in Washington’s 1A division is cross country and ran a 4:57.17 mile. Emma Bennett of Jesuit is entered in the race and she finished second in the 800 and third in the 1500 at the Oregon State Track Championship in 2022 and she has run a 4:52.37 in the mile. Ella McGillis of Central Catholic, who competed in the 1500 and 3000 final at the Oregon State meet, has a 4:57.20. Maura O’Scannlain of Jesuit finished third at the 6A Cross Country Championship in November and ran a 4:56.76 mile in 2022. Erin Cosgrove from Southridge is entered in the mile and qualified for the Oregon State Meet in the fall and finished 24th and recently committed to the cross country and track program at Oregon State. Zoe Rector of Central Catholic finished one spot behind Erin Cosgrove in the 2022 Oregon State Meet and is entered in the eighth heat. Avery Meier of West Salem completed her freshman cross country season with a 21st placing at the 6A Oregon State Cross Country Championship. Amelie Beil of Jesuit finished 12th at the 6A Oregon State Cross Country Championship and last week ran 2:21.77 at the Washington Indoor Invitational.
