Arcadia Distance Challenge Recap
Racing spots for April's prestigious Arcadia Invitational were on the line Saturday at the first ever Arcadia Distance Challenge. In case you missed it, here is what went down in the Invitational sections of 800, 1 Mile and 3200:

Invitational 800
The girl's Invitational 800 was a battle between Emma Hadley of Canyon (Anaheim) and Tessa Buswell from San Diego Section of Poway. The race could not be any closer with Emma edging Tessa by a 100th of a second (2:14.20 to 2:14.21). The boy's 800 was slated to be the most competitive race of the evening and then Florida high school runner and future Oregon Duck Rheinhardt Harrison jumped into the 800. Harrison pulled away for a convincing win in a time of 1:50.12. Ten boys in the invitational race broke the two minute barrier.

Invitational Mile
The girl's one mile showed the incredible depth of J Serra of Orange County. The five of the top six finishers were from J Serra with times ranging from 4:53 to 5:03. Ashlee Gallegos of J Serra won the race with Isabella Frisone of Canyon breaking up the J Serra girls finishing second. Both runners finished in a time of 4:53. In the boy's race Christopher Caudillo of Clovis took the lead from the gun and won the race in a time of 4:10.74. Sage Creek's Bryce Gilmore tried to keep the race honest with a second place finish of 4:11.93.
Invitational 3200

The final event of the meet was the Invitational 3200 and Mackenzie Rogers ran away from the field by running a PR of 10:36.84. The boy's Invitational 3200 played out with the runners in a tight pack with one lap to go. At the bell, Mark Trammell sprinted away from the field with a large lead on the back stretch. The field tried to close on him in the last 200 and Milo Skapinski of San Luis Obispo edged out Trammel at the line with times of 9:11.60 and 9:11.67.
